Virgoan Udita was born in Dehra Dun, India on September 2, 1984. Her parents are from the North-Eastern State of Assam. Dehra Dun is the capital of Uttarkhand, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. She comes from a very traditional and conservative family, and studied in D.A.V. Public School until the 8th standard..

The green-eyed model began her career by modeling, and then made her jump into the Bollywood industry. She modeled for PepsiCo, Titan Watch and Nokia among other companies. Udita Goswami's first film was "Paap" directed by Pooja Bhatt. Her next film "Zeher", which also starred Emraan Hashmi and Shamita Shetty, was her breakthrough role and she became a well known face in the industry. Her role was that of a femme fatale in this film. The film was quite controversial as it included some explicit scenes. Udita Goswami also acted in the movie "Aksar", opposite Dino Morea and Emraan Hashmi. She was featured with Upen Patel in Ahmed Khan's music video of the remix of 'Kya Khoob Lagti Ho'. Always wanting to be part of showbiz, she was not quite happy with her life in Dehra Dun. When she proposed to leave town for Bombay, her parents initially opposed, but subsequently let her have her own way.
She has subsequently appeared in Aksar; has a special appearance in Dil Diya Hai; has appeared in a music video by Ahmed Patel titled 'Kya Khoob Lagti Ho' opposite Upen Patel.
She has also been involved in political awareness & has done a show for the Sick Kids Foundation. She was award presenter in 2004 for the 49th Filmfare Awards in 2003.
Udita is currently reviewing all offers that are coming her way and is open to acting in commercial movies - if she likes the role.
Sultry Bollywood actress Udita Goswami has turned a brand ambassador with Donear Ply and is currently busy with the photo sessions.
'I really believed in this product and it feels good to get associated with the brand. I will surely go ahead with some more projects like this,' Udita said about her new role in a statement
Jitendra Kejriwal, owner of the Delhi-based plywood company, said he wanted to cater to the young generation and that was the reason why he approached Udita.
